Hastelloy C276 Round Bar UNS N10276 Custom Cutting any Length Diameter 10 - 300mm Nickel Alloy
Introduce of Hastelloy C276
Hastelloy C276, also known as Alloy C276 or UNS N10276, is a strong alloy with nickel, molybdenum, and chromium as its primary components, along with a small amount of tungsten. It’s widely recognized as one of the best corrosion-resistant materials in the market for process industries.
One of the great advantages of Hastelloy C276 welding rod is its excellent resistance to corrosion in both oxidizing and reducing environments. The combination of molybdenum, chromium, and tungsten makes it highly resistant to chlorine-related stress corrosion cracking and general corrosion like pitting and crevice corrosion.
The Hastelloy C276 Bar Stock can handle oxidative chemicals at temperatures up to 1900°F or 1038°C. However, it’s not suitable for environments with oxidative media containing hot, concentrated nitric acid due to its low chromium content.
The low carbon content in ASTM B574 UNS N10276 prevents carbide precipitation, allowing the alloy to be used in the as-welded condition. While it can’t be hardened by heat treatment, it can be hardened through cold working. However, it has a higher work hardening rate compared to conventional stainless steels, which should be considered during processing.
Hastelloy C276 Bar performs exceptionally well in marine environments, especially under crevice conditions where other alloys like stainless steel, Alloy 400, and Alloy 625 might fail. It’s extensively used in sour wells for the recovery and processing of sour natural gas, containing hydrogen sulphide, carbon dioxide, and chlorides. The chemistry of Hastelloy C276 makes it resistant to sulphur-related stress cracking that can occur in such environments at high temperatures in deep wells. This sets it apart from carbon and alloy steels, which tend to fail due to sulfide stress cracking or stress corrosion cracking in similar conditions.
